Le Roy Rod & Gun Club History

On August 5th, 1938 the Gun Club was officially changed to Le Roy Rod & Gun Club and the first set of bylaws were written. Joe Roy and Al Oshiem were elected as the first president and vice president. The annual membership dues were set at $1.00.  By year two there were 69 members. Meetings were typically held in the American Legion room of the Municipal Building.

On September 8th, 1944  the vote passed to purchase the clubs original 7 acres from Matt Klassy for $500.

On September 3rd, 1948  the original clubhouse was built and the first club meeting was held in their own clubhouse.

​

The early years of LRGC consisted of obtaining bass, crappie, and pike from the state department for stocking of a local bass pond and Lake Louise at Wildwood Park. The club raised pheasants and quail for member shoots. Members enjoyed annual fox hunts, and fishing trips to the Mississippi.
